Description
The 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 was a performance-focused offering in the second-generation Firebird lineup, distinguished over entry-level models by its more aggressive styling and potent 400ci V8 engine. Positioned just below the Trans Am in Pontiac’s hierarchy, the Formula 400 delivered increased muscle paired with a more understated appearance, making it a favorite among enthusiasts seeking raw power without the top-tier Trans Am flash.
Finished in Palladium Silver over black vinyl and equipped with a four-speed manual, this 6.6-liter V8-powered 1970 Firebird Formula 400 is a rare one-family-owned example. Originally purchased new by the seller’s father in 1970, the seller inherited the vehicle in 2018. Since then, the seller states it has been started monthly and only driven on occasion.
This one-family-owned 1970 Firebird Formula 400 is now offered with service records since 1977, its original purchase order, factory manuals, and a clean California title.

From the seller: “My father purchased this Firebird new in 1970 and garaged it in 1974. After his passing in 2015, I took over the title in 2018. It’s been stored indoors and started monthly since then and I’ve only driven it about 200 miles during my ownership.”

Additional Notes
From the seller: “This Firebird Formula 400 has been in our family since new and has always been garage-kept. While it’s not a show car, it’s a solid driver with a strong engine and transmission. The paint and interior were refreshed about 15 years ago, and I’ve made minimal changes to preserve its originality. It’s a great candidate for continued preservation or restoration.”
