Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1970 Honda CT70, part of Honda’s CT Trail series, debuted in 1969 as the larger sibling to the Z50 “Monkey” bike. Known as the ST70 “Dax” outside North America—a name inspired by its Dachshund-like frame—the CT70 combined style and practicality. It featured a sturdy pressed-steel “T-bone” hollow frame design, a 77cc OHC single-cylinder four-stroke engine, and fold-down handlebars for easy transport.

1970 three-speed semi-automatic examples came in three striking OEM colors: Candy Ruby Red (as seen here), Candy Sapphire Blue, and Candy Gold—bold, eye-catching finishes that defined its playful character. These vibrant “candy” hues reflected the youthful spirit Honda aimed to capture. Weighing around 150 lb and producing roughly 6 horsepower, the CT70 quickly became a sensation, selling hundreds of thousands of units and ranking as Honda’s second-best bike behind the CB750. Its fun, accessible design secured its place in motorcycling history and remains a favorite among collectors today.

Restored in 2024 and reportedly used sparingly since, this Candy Rudy Red 1970 Honda CT70 is located at Hagerty Garage + Social in Savannah, Georgia. It is now offered at no reserve with a Bill of Sale.
