Description
1964–1967 Chevelles are stylish, comfortable, powerful, and sought-after muscle cars. The first-year 1964 model made the 2-door Malibu SS the top option. The Chevelle was improved in 1965 with minor interior and exterior changes, and a high-powered 327ci small-block and 396ci big-block. And in 1966, the restyled Chevelle made the SS 396 its own model.
In 1967, the Chevelle’s voluptuous body was complemented by horizontal grille and rear end bars and frenched taillights. The SS 396 looked mean, with bulging faux scoops, blacked-out trim in the grille and rear cove, and SS 396 and Super Sport emblems warning of the high-performance big block within. Three 396s were offered, in base 325- and optional 350- and 375-horsepower versions, with Motor Trend editors recording a 14-second quarter mile and concluding, “If you dig power along with posh, you can pay your money and take your choice of the 396 Chevelles.”
Sold new at Larke Buick-Chevrolet in Hastings, Michigan, the previous owner of this 1967 Chevelle SS 396 reportedly spent five years refreshing it to largely factory specifications, with the exterior, interior, engine bay, trunk, and underside all receiving attention. It wears factory-correct Emerald Turquoise paint over a black vinyl interior, and the 396ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt with mostly factory internals and a lower compression ratio for today’s pump gas. And it features a floor-shifted four-speed manual trans that passes power through a 12-bolt rear end to Rally wheels.
This genuine Chevelle SS 396 is claimed to have been driven less than 100 miles since its refresh was completed. It is now offered with its original bill of sale, a photo album showing the refurbishment process, an owner's manual, books, and a clean Indiana title in the selling dealer’s name.

Additional Information
The restorer and previous owner states, “This survivor has gone through a five-year, 2,000-hour, frame off, nut by nut, concours-grade restoration using original parts when possible, but with modern improvements.
The body has all of its original parts: the frame, floor pans, fenders, doors, quarters, and trunk were rust-free thanks to the original owner’s extensive rust proofing. During the restoration process, it took many hours to remove the undercoating protecting that original metal. The only minor rust spot was on the driver’s side of the trunk, as noted in the pictures, where an approximately 4”x4” repair was done.
The engine in this car is the motor it was born with. Factory casting numbers on the block all match the car's trim tag. The mild modifications moved the horsepower from 325 to approximately 360. The odometer reads 11,792 which is the original miles over 100,000. Less than 100 miles have been put on the car since the completion of the restoration.”
