Description
The 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix Sport Coupe represented the third year of Pontiac’s personal luxury performance line, blending elegance with muscle. Introduced in 1962 as a sportier alternative to the Catalina, the Grand Prix quickly earned a reputation as a “gentleman’s grand touring car.”
By 1964, Pontiac refined the design with cleaner, more conservative styling while retaining its pillarless two-door hardtop profile, marketed as the Sport Coupe. Built on GM’s B-body platform with a 120-inch wheelbase, it featured a 389-cubic-inch V8 engine delivering up to 306 horsepower, paired with manual or automatic transmission. Interior features included bucket seats, center console, and upscale trim. Positioned below the Bonneville, the Grand Prix remained a strong seller, even with the debut of the GTO that year.
This ’64 Grand Prix Sport Coupe is said to have remained with its original owner for 61 years after he purchased it new on June 6th, 1964 from Harry's Cadillac Pontiac of Asheville, North Carolina. It was acquired by the seller from the original owner in January 2025. The Grand Prix wears Skyline Blue paint with Parchment vinyl bucket seats and door trim, and it is powered by a 389ci V8 engine mated to a desirable Muncie four-speed wide-ratio manual transmission.
The Grand Prix is now offered with its window sticker, data sheet, original purchase documents, service records, some spare parts, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Ownership History
The seller of this 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix Sport Coupe purchased it in January 2025.
The seller explains, “This Grand Prix was a true barn find in Cruso, North Carolina. It was owned by a Korean War Veteran who had a ’63 Grand Prix, but it rolled off at an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and he promptly replaced it with this 1964 Sport Coupe with Muncie four-speed, wide-ratio transmission. Mr. Rogers called this his hot rod, and it was only driven on clear days.
“The paint is original and has one minor blemish above the driver’s rear wheel where he apparently rubbed the garage opening. Interior is immaculate with original floor mats, as seen on the original bill of sale from Harry’s in Asheville, North Carolina. Even the clock works. The only work required, other than cleaning and waxing upon receipt of the vehicle, was replacing the brake booster.
“The mileage is definitely original, as I have the last required state inspection sheet with mileage. This is a truly unmolested GP — one of a kind for its age. Amazing that this car was babied so well. Mr. Rogers’ brother lives next door and provided me with details on the car, along with the mechanic who serviced the vehicle locally, who I met at the Labor Day Car Show in Canton (North Carolina). It drew lots of attention from enthusiasts.”
