Description
The 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza convertible was a stylish, compact car that stood out for its rear-mounted, air-cooled flat-six engine. As part of the popular Monza trim, it featured sporty upgrades like bucket seats, making it a favorite among younger drivers. Its sleek design and innovative engineering helped Chevrolet compete with European imports like the Volkswagen Beetle.
This unconventional layout eliminated the need for a driveshaft tunnel, allowing for a flat interior floor. The car used a swing-axle rear suspension and independent front suspension, offering a smooth ride. Its lightweight aluminum engine and compact design made it mechanically unique among American cars of the era.
This 1963 Corvair Monza is finished in red over black vinyl bucket seats and is powered by a 2.4L flat-six engine with two-speed Powerglide transmission. Since purchasing the car in 2018, the seller has provided routine maintenance, upgraded the original generator changing system with a modern alternator, and installed a Clark’s Corvair air conditioning system. It is now offered with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Additional Information
From the seller: “We purchased the car in spring of 2018 in Alabama and added A/C so my wife and I would ride comfortably on road trips with the Vulcan Corvair Enthusiasts club. We enjoyed those trips with the club for a couple of years before we moved away. The car was not driven much since we moved except to regularly start and drive around the block occasionally to keep it fresh. We had a local mechanic do a tune-up last year.”
