Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced in 1955, the MGA marked a dramatic departure from the upright styling of earlier MG models and featured a sleek, aerodynamic body and lower chassis that reflected modern sports car design.
By 1959, the model had matured into the popular MGA 1500 and new 1600 variants — so named for their four-cylinder engine displacement — and offered improved performance, better brakes, and enhanced drivability. Notable for its use of body-on-frame construction and independent front suspension, the MGA was available in both roadster and coupe forms, with the roadster being particularly popular in the U.S. market.
This ’59 MGA Roadster has been driven fewer than 5,000 miles since its 1500cc inline-four engine was rebuilt in 2004. The British sports car is finished in pearlescent white with a black soft top and tan leather interior. Additional features include a four-speed manual gearbox, 15” steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, faux woodgrain trim on the dashboard, bucket seats, and black carpet.
Modifications include MGB front suspension and disc brakes, a 12-volt negative ground conversion, generator-to-alternator conversion, spin-on oil filter conversion, stainless steel muffler/exhaust system, LED headlights, and seat belts.
The car, which is recorded in the North American MGA Register under No. 5243, has been with its current owner since 1968.
This 1959 MG MGA 1500 Roadster is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a tonneau cover, side curtains, and a clean Michigan title in the current owner's name.
