Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Introduced in 1958 as Mercury’s new flagship, the Park Lane replaced the Turnpike Cruiser and aimed to elevate the brand into the premium full-size market. Built on a stretched 125-inch wheelbase — three inches longer than other Mercurys — the Park Lane measured over 220 inches in length, with most of the added size in its rear deck. Styling was bold and chrome-laden, reflecting late-1950s extravagance.

Under the hood, it featured a standard 430 cubic-inch V8 producing 360 horsepower. Offered in three body styles — four-door hardtop Phaeton Sedan, two-door hardtop coupe, and convertible — the Park Lane emphasized luxury with advanced features like push-button transmission controls and upscale interiors. It competed with Buick and Oldsmobile but sold fewer than 10,000 units due to the 1958 recession. Despite that, it set Mercury’s tone for prestige.

Originally painted Parisian Green with a black and white interior vinyl, this 1958 Mercury Park Lane Phaeton Sedan has been refinished in blue with a white/cream embossed floral vinyl pattern on both the front and back of the seats, as well as blue carpet. The car is equipped with a Multi-Drive Merc-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission with neutral start and pushbutton keyboard control.

This Mercury is now offered on behalf of its 22-year owner with a maintenance manual, parts catalog, and a clean Michigan title in the current owner's name.
