Description

The 1956 Chevrolet Nomad was a pivotal model in the evolution of American station wagons, blending sporty design with dependable utility. Built on the premium Bel Air platform, it featured a sleek two-door body with a full-width grille, uplevel trim, forward-slanting B-pillars, and wraparound, high- visibility rear glass.

Under the hood, the Nomad packed a six cylinder or a 265-cubic-inch V8, backed by a three-speed manual or two-speed Powerglide. A Glide-Ride suspension smoothed the bumps, and a host of power options from brakes to windows made piloting the Nomad a breeze. And because only 7,886 of these unique machines were built, the 1956 Nomad is a rare and sought-after collector’s car today.

This 1956 Chevy Nomad was purchased by the seller as a rolling project. It includes a media blasted, primered body with new floors, a new Heidt’s coil over front and rear suspension with welded four-link attachments and crossmember, a 700R4 automatic transmission, and a rebuilt, 350ci Chevrolet V8 engine.

The car is mounted to a rolling cart for transportation purposes, and comes with many new and used parts to help get it back on the road.
