Description
Founded in the mid-19th century as a wagon manufacturer, Studebaker evolved into one of America’s most innovative automakers, known for bold styling and engineering ingenuity. By the 1950s, Studebaker trucks stood out for their streamlined aesthetic, sturdy construction, and practical features. The 2R-series, introduced in 1949, marked a significant step forward with modernized styling and improved drivability, cementing Studebaker’s reputation for building trucks that combined utility with distinctive character.
This 1953 Studebaker 2R10 is powered by a factory high-output 289ci “Sweepstakes” V8, reportedly awarded as a raffle win to the original owner as part of Studebaker’s closure. Paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, this ¾-ton pickup delivers a rare combination of patina’d originality and utility. The truck retains much of its original character, with updates made to enhance reliability.
Additional highlights include American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, a reupholstered bench seat, and aftermarket gauges. To sweeten the deal, a Coleman cooler-seat-equipped go-kart and custom trailer built from the rear section of a Studebaker truck are included—the latter is registered in Florida as a homemade trailer.
This package deal 1953 Studebaker 2R10 with trailer and go-kart is now offered with some spare parts and a clean Florida title.

The 'Sweepstakes’ engine is a unique piece of Studebaker history, and we even have part of the original crate top it shipped in. The trailer and go-kart have been with the truck for years, and we’d love to see them stay together as a set.”
