20-Years-Family-Owned, 235-Powered 1952 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup

Description

Ford was the first of Detroit’s Big Three to step into the pickup market, but by the time World War II erupted, Chevrolet had claimed the crown as the top truck seller — a position it held well beyond the war years. After resuming civilian production in August 1945, Chevy unveiled its bold new “Advance Design” pickups in May 1947. These trucks were wider, longer, and lower than the prewar holdovers sold in ’46, sporting a thoroughly modern look and an innovative rear-hinged “alligator” hood.

As the Advance Design series rolled into the 1950s, changes were few, yet Chevrolet continued to outsell every rival — even after Ford launched its F-Series in 1948. Updates were incremental, such as the addition of vent windows in 1951, and production of the line continued all the way into 1955.

This 1952 Chevrolet 3100 pickup has been refurbished to era-correct condition, and reportedly retains its original VIN tag. Professionally refinished in green, reupholstered in cream, and featuring a custom bed, this 3100 has been upgraded with a 235ci six cylinder backed by a three-speed manual. It’s a period-correct truck with updated components, ready for work or play. This attractive 3100 pickup is now offered with a Minnesota title labeled as “Reconstructed”.

Ownership History

The seller states, “I’ve owned this truck since 2021, but my grandfather first started the project around 2005.

“We have maintained the truck as needed, stored it indoors, and started it up and taken it on short drives to keep it in running shape. I’m selling because I do not have the time or expertise to continue to care for it as it deserves to be cared for. It is time to sell to someone who will enjoy, appreciate, and care for it as my grandfather did.”
