Description

Pre-war Chevrolet pickups have transformed from modest work trucks into important examples of early Chevy history. Produced as part of its KC Series, the 1940 Chevy “Light Delivery” half-ton truck wore a restyled body featuring distinct rounded panels, a prominent chrome grille with horizontal bars and “Chevrolet” script, chrome bumpers, a 6 ½-foot bed, and oval taillights. Inside, the reengineered cab featured a car-like instrument panel and a more comfortable bench seat than before

From the factory, Chevy’s “Light Delivery” trucks were powered by the durable if rather light-on-pep 85-horsepower, 216ci “Stovebolt” six-cylinder engine, and backed by a three-speed manual transmission. These KC Series trucks were popular then, and are highly regarded now among vintage truck enthusiasts and collectors for their timeless styling.

This 1940 Chevrolet Pickup features numerous modifications, starting with its black cherry exterior paint and six-board stained maple bed floor, which give way to a tan leather bench seat. Underhood, a 383ci stroker V8 with aluminum heads is fed by a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and it's also equipped with an Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake manifold. A Richmond 6-speed manual transmission powers the rear wheels through a limited-slip 10-bolt General Motors rear differential. The truck rides on a Heidts front suspension with tubular A-arms paired with a rear leaf-spring setup. Additional convenience items include power windows, a tilt steering column, and a modern air conditioning unit.

This 1940 Chevrolet Pickup is now offered by the selling dealer with Connecticut registration and a Bill of Sale.
