Description

The 1936 Ford Model 68 was a pivotal release in Ford’s pre-war lineup, representing a blend of modern design, mechanical refinement, and mass-market appeal. As a successor to the Model 48, the Model 68 featured updated styling with a more prominent, inverted pentagonal grille, integrated fenders, and a sleeker silhouette that reflected the Art Deco influences of the time.

Ford offered the Model 68 in a wide range of body styles, including coupes, sedans, roadsters, phaetons, and station wagons, with both standard and deluxe trim levels. In total, Ford produced over 536,000 Model 68s in 1936 – a testament to Ford’s resilience and innovation during the Great Depression.

This 1936 Model 68 Deluxe Five-Window received refurbishment and modification work that included installing a 355 cu-in Vortec V8 and 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. The steel body was removed from the frame before being modified and refinished in metallic purple with flame graphics. Additional work consisted of reinforcing the frame, installing a Mustang II-sourced front end, and fitting front disc brakes. The interior features late-model seats upholstered in tan and burgundy leather, along with air conditioning and power-operated windows.
