Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe 50-A Sport Coupe was a stylish and refined variant of Ford’s second major automotive success, the Model A. By 1931, the Model A had evolved into a more sophisticated vehicle, offering improved performance, comfort, and aesthetics. The 50-A Sport Coupe featured a rigid canvas-covered roof with landau irons, giving it a formal, upscale appearance while retaining the weather protection of a closed car.
The Model A itself was launched in 1927 as a successor to the legendary Model T, marking a significant leap in design, comfort, and engineering. By 1931, Ford had sold millions of Model As, but the Great Depression was taking its toll on the auto industry. Despite economic hardship, the Deluxe 50-A Sport Coupes appealed to buyers seeking a touch of luxury and modernity at an affordable price.
Powered by a 201-cubic inch inline-four engine producing 40 horsepower through a conventional three-speed manual transmission, the Cabriolet offered reliable performance and ease of maintenance. In 1931, Ford produced approximately 626,579 Model A vehicles across all body styles, of those 19,700 units were Deluxe 50-A Sport Coupes.
