Honda debuted the redesigned fourth-generation Prelude in 1991 to stay atop a growing market of Japanese four-cylinder sport coupes including the likes of the Isuzu Impulse, Toyota Celica, and Nissan 240SX. In sporting Si trim, the Prelude came equipped with a rev-happy 2.3-liter DOHC inline-four delivering a smooth and powerful 160 horses, with Car and Driver magazine calling it a “masterpiece” in their 1992 test. The editors also praised its sophisticated control arm and multilink suspension and light clutch and shifter, making tire-screeching fun easily accessible. The result was one of the most dynamic driving experiences in the sport-coupe class at the time, which can be enjoyed today in this low-mileage, well-preserved example.
