Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1989 Jaguar XJ-S represented the mature phase of Jaguar’s long-running grand tourer, which was first introduced in 1975 as a successor to the E-Type. Built on the XJ saloon platform, the XJ-S emphasized luxury and refinement over outright sportiness and featured distinctive “flying buttresses” and a sleek profile. By 1989, the model offered both coupe and convertible body styles.

Power came from a 5.3-liter V12 engine producing 262 horsepower, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, delivering smooth performance and a top speed near 150 mph. Anti-lock brakes were added in '89, enhancing safety. With a price tag of about $50k, the XJ-S was Jaguar’s most expensive offering at the time. Regardless, 4,458 buyers chose one.

This 1989 Jaguar XJ-S Convertible, offered from The Richard Gordon Collection, features Jaguar Racing Green paint with a fully automatic power-operated black soft top, Barley leather upholstery, Lattice-patterned alloy wheels, wood interior trim, and its factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo.
