Description
Designed for individuals seeking greater automotive individuality, a Mercedes-Benz coupe offered the same exhaustive engineering standards perfected in their sedan range. This ideology rang true with the introduction of the six-cylinder W114 in 1968. The coupes were initially offered as types 250 C and 250 CE, with the latter being a fuel-injected model that was never offered to North American buyers. Compared to subsequent generations of Mercedes coupes, the W114 utilized the same length wheelbase as its sedan counterparts offering spacious seating for five. Following a redesign in 1973, the 250 was replaced by the types 280 C and 280 CE, which lasted until the successor W123s were launched in early 1976.
