Description

The world was first introduced to the Mercedes-Benz 500 K during the 1934 Berlin Motor Show and was poised as the pinnacle of the Mercedes model range, targeting only the wealthiest of clients. Several bodies were available from the factory Karoserie, or a chassis could be purchased and outfitted by whatever coachbuilder the new owner desired. They were ideally suited for the autobahns being constructed across Germany, allowing for high-speed touring in the utmost luxury. With only a limited number of these produced in the period, they have served as inspiration for those wanting to capture the feel of the original while allowing for modern amenities as well. There are many lower-quality examples of these replicas constructed that feature a single, thin fiberglass rear resulting in numerous problems that his example does not have. If there are insufficient funds to spend on a multi-million dollar original, this 500 K replica is just the right solution.

This car is part of the Retro Motors Collection, which comprises over 30 cars largely from the 1950s through today, with a focus on American muscle and high-powered European sports cars. View the full collection here.
