Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. Chrome wire wheels, outside filler, plexi windows. Fairly clear history, reunited with its original engine (block) about 1990. Sympathetically restored, pretty original with MM Retro appearances in 95, 97, 98 and 2000. No known racing history but early evidence suggests the first owner Tomaso Sebastini raced it aggressively.

Market commentary

Sebastini had it at Ferrari 17 times to be repaired and revised in 3 years, including getting dry sump lubrication, unlikely unless he was taking advantage of its performance. With 280 smooth hp and plenty of torque the 340 America is among the most desirable early Ferraris. The amount bid here is close to enough; $750 775,000 should do it.
