Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

270 Offy power, two Riley side draft carbs, four wheel hydraulic brakes, 2 speed rear axle and I O gearbox, painted suspension. Tired and mostly as raced other than an old repaint which carefully preserved the area with the origil decals. Tattered and torn, partially replaced origil interior. Pre war Indy history with Miller eight power and post war with this engine. Harry McQuinn 7th in 1938, DNQ in 1940, 1941 and 1946. 1948 AAA Owners championship winner, driver Myron Fohr 2nd in Drivers championship. 4th at Indy in 1949 and 11th in 1950. Wrecked at Syracuse in 1951 and restored much later by Buster Warke, Fred Nickels and Joe Silnes. David Uihlein collection. No Reserve.

Market commentary

A classic Indy Big Car with some innovative features like the 2 speed rear axle that makes it particularly adaptable. Bought appropriately for its history and condition.
