Equipment
RHD. 9.1 liter straight six, 4 speed, RHD, varnished wood wheels, dual sidemounts, leather trunk. Transformable coachwork from a formal limousine de ville to a fully open torpedo. Former Imperial Palace car. Dull trim, paint cracking and chipped around drivers door, otherwise a nicely aging restoration. An absolutely massive car.
Market commentary
A no sale at The Auction in 2000 at $560,000, then again at Kruse Santa Clara 2001 at $350,000, this Renault has been slowly making its way to the bottom. While parked in RMs display area it attracted only the occasional observer and they typically stopped to express shock at the cars size. It was impressive for other reasons (like the fabulous engineering and meticulous machining that went into it) but without a critical mass of monied admirers it was unlikely to reach a higher number.
