Equipment
RHD. Brass trim, jump seats, embroidered window pulls and rear compartment trim, rollup rear compartment shades, sliding divider, ivory knobs, speaking tube, triple Elliott, CAV head and side lights, wicker trunk. Good older restoration that shows age and would benefit from some cosmetic attention. First owned by Mr. Alfred I. duPont, later by A. Atwater Kent, Jr. Oral history says the order, during Rolls Royces WWI work, was facilitated by King George V in gratitude for the duPont companys supply of powder and munitions. Richard Solove Collection, proceeds to Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Market commentary
The duPont story has the ring of truth, otherwise how would Mrs. duPont get a new Silver Ghost limousine while the factory was busily making armored cars for Lawrence of Arabia and others. It is an outstanding example, lushly equipped and beautifully restored and brought a price appropriate to its legend, configuration and equipment.
