RHD. Sibley & Pitman Climax acetylene headlights, Corcoran kerosene sidelights, Dietz kerosene Dainty Tail Lamp taillight. No windshield, top or frame. Rubes style trumpet bulb horn. Double chain drive, semi elliptical leaf springs, Attwood Castle brass acetylene generator. 198 cubic inch L head four, 3 speed, about 28 brake horsepower. Old leather generally sound with some abrasions, creases and wrinkles. Cracked old paint. Appears to have been restored long ago with some subsequent use and long museum display with regular attention to visible cosmetics but little to chassis or running gear. Hood hinge stamped 1338. Ex Henry Austin Clark, for whom it was probably restored after being salvaged from Mike Carusos Hicksville, LI junk yard. Oily, dirty, and not running.
Market commentary
The excellent provenance of this Locomobile isnt enough to offset its aged condition and relatively small engine, proving that quality alone isnt enough. It was appropriately bought at this price.
