1981 American LaFrance Pumper | Classic of the Year - Hagerty Media

Dr. Gary Singer’s father, Edward, spent nearly two decades working with the NYC Fire Department and designed the “Chief’s Repeater,” a 100-foot antenna that sat atop one of the Twin Towers and was used to maintain communication between firefighters during emergencies. Edward passed away in 2001, before the 9/11 attacks, but his passion for firetrucks inspired Dr. Gary to purchase a 1981 American LaFrance Pumper and turn it into a rolling memorial for the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on Sept. 11.
