Drivers of this month's change

After dropping in February and March, the Hagerty Market Rating grew by over half a point this month to its highest point since last December.

As live auction events come back onto the calendar and return to (somewhat) normal, both the number of cars sold at auction and the median sale price are up from last month. Activity on the private market saw a small bump as well.

One measure in the Hagerty Market Rating is the number of vehicle owners who believe that values are rising. The number of both mainstream and high-end vehicles owners expressing that belief increased for the sixth straight month and are at their highest point in the last year.

Despite the positive movement above and despite growth from external market forces (like the stock market and home prices), optimism from market experts dropped this month and the upcoming update of the Hagerty Price Guide saw average condition #3 (good) values drop slightly.
