Instagram Jump Start: Pebble Beach videos race to 1-2-3 finish

Pebble Beach and Woodward were on our minds last week, and they were clearly on yours too. Short videos from Monterey made the biggest impression on Instagram, claiming the top three spots on HagertyClassicCars by scoring nearly 19,000 combined views. Top photos came from the Woodward Dream Cruise, where a ’63 Chevy Corvette and the first-ever Camaro ruled the day. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy our top five:

  1. 1965 Ford Mustang race car video (7,282 views) – A race-prepared ‘65 Ford Mustang serves as the prefect greeting for everyone who comes to Russo and Steele’s Monterey auction. With more than 15 years of historic racing under its belt, this Mustang is pretty used to going in circles.

  2. Vintage racecars at Laguna Seca video (6,535 views) – The fog is starting to lift here at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. What a sound!

  3. Pontiac GTO/BMW 6 Series/Chevy Camaro video (4,695 views) – They’re selling cars and trucks as fast as they can at Russo and Steele’s Monterey auction. It’s the first night of the three-day event, and more than 250 vehicles will cross the block before it’s over.

  4. 1963 Chevrolet Corvette (1,930 likes) – Two icons in one photo: A 1963 split-window Corvette parked on Woodward Avenue. The coupe carries a 327 V-8; several horsepower options were available.

  5. 1967 Chevrolet Camaro No. 1 (1,117 likes) – The Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit is the world’s largest one-day celebration of classic car culture, but gear heads aren’t waiting until Saturday to enjoy their cars. The Historic Vehicle Association will induct the first Chevrolet Camaro into its National Historic Vehicle Register on Wednesday morning. The 1967 model – Camaro No. 100001 – is on display in its Jewel Box at the corner of Old Woodward and Woodward Avenue in Birmingham through Saturday.

Best of the Rest – We’ve seen so many fantastic photos from Monterey and Woodward that we expected our favorite non-HagertyClassicCars Instagram post to come from one of those events. Not. We saw the light – or more like 11 of them – elsewhere. Posted by @thecollectorsindex, the front-end photo of a 1954 Lancia Aurelia GT B20 S Series IV (just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?) is a real show stopper.
