Save the date: The Lotus Emeya super sedan will arrive on September 7

Lotus

Lotus is only a week away from launching the follow-up to its controversial Eletre. Just as the Eletre was dubbed a Hyper-SUV, Lotus would like the new Anglo-Chinese Emeya to be known as a Hyper-GT.

Sharing the electrical architecture of the Eletre the car is anticipated to arrive in two versions—one with 600 hp and an R spec with 900 horses. A 112 kWh battery pack should give a range of more than 400 miles, and rapid recharging will be possible at up to 420 kW.

Lotus’ rival to the Porsche Taycan is set to be its most luxurious model to date, and thanks to an overall length of around 197 inches and a generous wheelbase it will offer limousine-like levels of interior space. Expect air suspension, rear-wheel steering, active roll control, and active aerodynamics developed for the Eletre to feature, but all tuned for the lower, sportier stance of the Emeya.

This teaser video doesn’t give much away, but we do get to see a glimpse of its sleek silhouette, and get an idea of just how much lower it is than the Eletre. A signature wrap-around rear light treatment and active rear spoiler are shown, while the headlights feature twin parallel LED units giving the car’s face a distinctly different look to the Eletre.

The Emeya will be the first sedan from the British brand, unless you count the Lotus Carlton of the early 1990s. At the time it was the fastest four-door on the planet, but the electrifying performance of the Emira will make it look sedate.

The Emeya is to be built alongside the Eletre in Wuhan, China and will be followed by another, smaller SUV and an electric sports car arriving in 2026.

We’ll bring you full details of the latest Lotus as soon as we have them.
