The Mini Remastered Oselli Edition is David Brown Automotive’s latest restomod

David Brown Automotive is turning up the wick of its Mini Remastered restomod with 60 highly tuned Oselli Editions, commemorating the original Mini’s 60th birthday. Since the 1960s, Oselli has specialized in performance enhancements for the A Series engines fitted to the original Mini, MG Midget and Austin Healey Sprite.

In this case the Mini is getting the full Stage 3 treatment, increasing engine displacement to 1420 cc, apparently good for over 100 horsepower—a 40 percent power increase over a stock four-cylinder A series mill. That increased power is put to the wheels via a fully remanufactured five-speed transmission.

Other performance upgrades include adjustable SPAX performance shocks, “race-spec” brakes with larger-than-stock rotors, four piston calipers up front, and aluminum drums in the back. To make the most out of the Stage 3 motor and to accommodate the larger, the original Mini’s tiny 10-inch wheels have grown to 7J X 13-inch aluminum rims from Enkei in your choice of gold or silver finish. An uprated exhaust system and new air intakes complete the performance improvements.

The Oselli Edition Mini Remastered comes in two color schemes, off-white and dark grey, with full-length racing stripes and side accents in either Crimson Red, Royal Blue, or Racing Green. A cast aluminum, body colored engine cover dresses up the engine compartment. Chrome trim, as well as the mirrors, door handles, and wheel arches has been blacked out. A custom mesh grille with inset LED spotlights and a painted build number completes the exterior changes.

For the interior, buyers of the Oselli Edition will be able to choose either a four-seat version with interior accents to match the racing stripe and black trim, or a two-seater with a leather trimmed roll cage replacing the rear seat. The two passenger version also comes with hand-trimmed bucket seats that can be ordered with four-point safety harnesses from Sabelt or conventional three-point belts. The steering wheel is wrapped, by hand, in Alcantara, and there is a build number plate on the glovebox door for that extra bit of custom flair.

Track enthusiasts with a thing for color-coordination will be delighted with the availability of personalized, racing suits and helmets that match their car.

The Mini Remastered Oselli Edition will get its first public viewing next week at the Goodwood Revival.

David Brown Automotive is now taking pre-orders for the Mini Remastered Oselli Edition, with deliveries scheduled to start some time in 2020. The four seat model starts at $120,814 (£98,000) and the two-seater is $133,159 (£108,000). For comparison, when the original 850-cc Mini was introduced in 1959, it was just £537, and more than 25 percent of that was taxes.
