1973 Schwab Challenger Rendering Business Wire

To celebrate both its 1973 incorporation and its inaugural sponsorship of the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge, Charles Schwab will award a 1973 Dodge Challenger to this year’s winner.

It’s not just any 1973 Dodge Challenger that the tourney winner will be driving home, this one is a special restomod that’s just getting wrapped up by Steve Strope and his hard-working crew at Pure Vision in Simi Valley, California. Pure Vision has built some beautiful cars, including Steve’s own Cutlass. The shop has also built cars for celebrities like Joe Rogan and has won SEMA Best of Show awards.

Steve has offered us his advice on car building in the past and is known for carefully mixing the old and new. So, while the details remain a mystery, we can assume from the rendering, which shows off custom aluminum wheels and Aston Martin Glacier Blue paint, this ’73 Challenger will be no Slant Six restoration. Bet on a touch of Pro Touring in the suspension, a tastefully restored interior, and something fun under the hood. Schwab’s press release hinted that the pony car would pack nearly 500 horsepower, which has us wondering, “That thing got a Hemi?”
