Instagram Jump Start: A gullwing flies to top (even with its doors closed)

Here we are again – first day of another work week. Let’s make the best of it, shall we? Jump start your Monday with the top five most-liked classic car pics from Hagerty’s Instagram account over the last seven days.

  1. 1954-63 Mercedes-Benz 300SL (2,032 likes)
Quite often we see cars in the parking lot that are every bit as cool as those on the lawn – like this Mercedes-Benz 300SL at last summer’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Mercedes built 1,400 of the iconic “gull wing” coupes from 1954-63.

Built by Los Angeles-based ICON, modifications to this 1954 Desoto Powermaster wagon include 6.1-liter HEMI SRT8 engine, custom Art Morrison chassis and custom wheels.

  3. Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum (1,289)
Walking into the original Auburn-Cord showroom in Auburn, Ind. – now home to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum – is an awe-inspiring experience. The museum contains more than 120 classic automobiles, including a 1934 Duesenberg LeGrande Phaeton (left), 1936 Cord (center) and 1927 Duesenberg Model X Boat Roadster (right) on the ground floor.

  4. 1947 Ford cabover truck (1,225)
Hagerty employees got together for Cars and Caffeine this morning at our Traverse City, Mich., headquarters. The showstopper was definitely this custom 1947 Ford cabover truck, which spent most of its life working on a northern Michigan farm but has been transformed into a head-turning drag car. The grille lifts by remote control revealing a 513-cid Cadillac powerplant, which replaced its original flathead V-8.

  5. 1957 Chevrolet Corvette (1,150)
Although the body for the 1957 Chevrolet Corvette was a carryover from 1956, the ’57 offered optional fuel injection and four-speed manual transmission. This Cascade Green and Ivory 1957 “Fuelie” – one of only 1,040 built – resides in the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky.

Best of the rest – Scanning the thousands of automotive posts on Instagram that aren’t on @HagertyClassicCars, we loved this one from @horchphoto featuring a 1957 Corvette in Scottsdale, Ariz. Let’s just say it bowled us over.
