‘Back to Where it All Began’ Boat Show set for June 26-28 in Algonac, Mich.

Chris-Craft called it home. So did speed boat legend Gar Wood. It’s no wonder that the Antique and Classic Boat Society’s June 26-28 event in Algonac, Mich., is called the “Back to Where it All Began” Boat Show.

The 30th annual show, held at the Algonac Harbour Club north of Detroit on the St. Clair River – which separates the U.S. and Canada – is a three-day event that traditionally includes a lunch cruise and welcome party on Friday, a judged show and boat parade on Saturday, and a cruise with brunch at the Old Club on Sunday morning.

This year’s theme is “Blonds have more fun.” Blond-decked boats of any year and manufacturer will be considered for the Marque Boat award. There will be 11 judging categories.

Additional events include a tour of Algonac Cast Products on Friday morning, as well as guest speakers, shuttle rides to points of interest, and dinner at the Historical Society on Saturday. New this year, owners registered for the show can volunteer to give rides on their boats, with all proceeds benefitting the Kid’s in Distress organization.
