The Elkhart Lake Vintage Auto Festival goes for another record-breaking lap

Nearly 250 vintage and historic race cars were gathered at the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival in Elkhart Lake, Wisc., Sept. 18-20 to relive the history at Road America — one of the world’s finest road courses.

The impressive four-mile, 14-turn road circuit has challenged the world’s best racers for nearly 60 years, and the 640-acre park offers amazing viewing opportunities for spectators, perfect for vintage fans who want to see these machines in action.

New to the event, the Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA) Challenge Championship featured a Jaguar concours display and rally, and there was a special gathering of rare Allard vehicles. On Saturday, fans had the opportunity to watch a historic road course reenactment tour, which follows a route almost identical to the street course driven in the early 1950s. In addition, an Invitational Car Show, “Gather on the Green,” held a display of beautiful classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Throughout the weekend’s festivities, drivers competed on the track and provided the gratifying ambiance of race gas fumes and high-revving engines — it is truly an event that no racing enthusiast should miss.
