This military jeep restoration shop has all sorts of parts stocked up

On a whirlwind road trip across Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia, we came across Quarter Ton & Military while in the town of Chickamauga, Georgia, was being hit with a whopper of a thunderstorm. We used the excuse of getting out of the rain to peek through the shop’s inventory of rare parts, both new and NOS, which are peddled to military vehicle enthusiasts. In doing so, lots of vintage olive-drab machines can stay on the road, trail, or VE-day parade route under their own power. And if they don’t have the jeep part needed for a repair or restoration, Quarter Ton & Military can help find someone who does.

Due to the rain, we spent all of our time inside the main building, but there are plenty of vehicles in the lot as well. One of the shop’s prized possessions—kept out of the rain—is a 1942 M3A1 G67 scout car. Unlike the flat-fenders that make up most of their business, this beautiful beast wasn’t built by Ford or Willys, but by White Motor Company, the Cleveland-based company best known for its heavy-duty trucks. This particular scout car saw duty in north Africa and Italy during WWII with the U.S. Army before being used by the Greek Army after the war’s end until 1960.
