Instagram Jump Start: ’67 Lincoln, ’57 Porsche fit to be tied

In a race between a luxury American land yacht and nimble German sports car, the winner was … neither. Of all the automobiles, motorcycles and boats featured on Instagram last week, the title of HagertyClassicCars’ most-liked post came down to two, a 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible and a 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster. And after some back and forth, the race ended in a dead heat.

No matter which car you favor, grab a cup of Joe and start your week on the right foot with a quick look back at our top posts:

  1. 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible (1,086 likes) – How big is the 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible? It’s over 18 feet long, it has a massive 462-cid / 340-hp V-8 under the hood, and its seats are as wide as a church pew. And oh, those suicide doors.

  2. 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster (1,086) – Although it looks much like its predecessor, the 1956-58 Porsche 356A received some minor design changes and a larger 1,582cc, air-cooled, flat-four engine. This 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster – one of only 2,922 built – was featured on Episode 6 of Hagerty’s YouTube series, “The Barn Find Hunter.”

  3. 1949 Cadillac Series 62 sedan (1,073) – Big news for 1949 was the introduction of Cadillac’s new 160-hp, 331-cid OHV V-8 engine. It was also the final year that the luxury car carried a two-piece windshield.

  4. 1955 Buick Special (1,061) – The Buick Special received a power boost for 1955, courtesy of a four-barrel carburetor that now rated the Special’s 322-cid V-8 at 188 hp. A new variable-pitch Dynaflow automatic transmission livened up the car’s acceleration. All Specials received a bolder grille and more pronounced “Dagmar” bumpers.

One That We Love But You Only Liked – Every week there’s a photo that we think deserved a lot more likes than it received. This interior shot of a 1956 Ford Thunderbird is one of them.

Best of the Rest – Barn Finds. Like many of you, we can’t get enough of photos and stories bringing once-hibernating cars into the light. The sweet Jaguar E-Type featured on @HandHclassics certainly got our attention. It was our favorite automotive post not featured on HagertyClassicCars.
