The new LEGO 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is a kid’s secret agent dream car

LEGO is on a roll, once again appealing to the discerning tastes of car enthusiasts young and old. This time classic movie buffs can rejoice as well—the latest LEGO car replica is James Bond’s timeless 1964 Aston Martin DB5.

007’s Aston looks slightly less sleek in plastic-block form, but it’s no less intriguing and recognizable as his iconic chariot. The doors open, and inside there’s a “concealable radar tracker and a door compartment containing a telephone,” according to LEGO. On top of that you can also rotate the revolving number plates, raise and lower the “bulletproof” rear screen, launch tire spikes, and expose the hidden front machine guns with a pull of the shifter. Did we mention there’s also a passenger ejector seat, activated by yanking the rear bumper?

Most importantly, under the hood rests a splendid LEGO rendition of the DB5’s straight-six motor.

The whole set features more than 1290 pieces, and will carry a price of $149.99 when it becomes available for purchase August 1st. Get this for your kid (or yourself, we won’t judge), strap in for a Bond marathon, and try to explain those female supporting role names without tripping over yourself too much.
