Market commentary
A devastatingly quick road-legal track toy, the Senna is limited to just 500 units and they hit the auction scene quickly, billed as instant collectibles. Most of them have failed to meet reserve, but the no-reserve format at Barrett-Jackson saw one sell in Scottsdale last year for $1,457,500 and another one sell this year for $946,000. The original base price was just short of a million dollars, but this one's special Gulf livery paint apparently cost $194,000 on top of that, so it's easy to see the owner's reluctance to let it go at this high bid.
