While this is one of six 550 Barchetta Pininfarina prototypes built and the Frankfurt Auto Show display car beyond that it is just another 2,000 mile example. It should have been on its way to a new home well before the reported high bid. Even half the low estimate would have been ample recognition of its limited distinctions.
