Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

358 inch SB2 550hp NASCAR block said to be fresh. This is an one of the Joe Gibbs Race Team cars that was driven by Tony Stewart in his impressive rookie year. Since then it has run very successfully earning mostly first places in various unlimited speed open road contests.

Market commentary

Sold last year at R&S Scottsdale and returned this year. These retired racers can run vintage road racing series, open track events and the unlimited speed highway timed events that take place on closed courses. If there was money at this generous bid the seller should have grabbed it with both hands. Its $15,000 or more over what used Winston Cup cars usually bring. (Each team has something like fifteen cars for each driver at any one time. Theres no shortage of this machinery in the pipeline.)
