Equipment
2771cc/400hp, 5-speed, carbon fiber wing, hood and driveshaft, titanium strut brace, Bilstein dampers, three-piece 18-inch wheels.
Condition
Number 19 of just 40 confirmed 400Rs produced. Showing 7114 km (4420 miles). Very good original paint, the only damage is a handful of minuscule paint chips on the front bumper by the side vents. The original LMGT1 wheels are aged and the Allen bolts have some oxidation. The left side wheels had damaged NISMO decals. Under the hood is very original and has little to no deterioration from age or use while the underbody shows minor fading from age. The interior is very clean and exhibited no meaningful wear from usage. A JDM holy grail in exceptionally original condition.
Market commentary
This was a darn good car, with no issues or questions around it making a million dollar or more sale completely feasible. That didn't happen here. During the preview, the car was largely ignored outside of die-hard enthusiasts, which leads to the assumption that the car was not going to be an impulse buy from a rich auction goer. The fact that the car sold says that Monterey is warming to JDM cars, however it may be a while before bidders are willing to fight over them.
