Condition
Three owners from new. One of 126 of these Lightweights built (with about 60 for the U.S. market) with aluminum doors, no sound deadening and stiffer springs. Other than a handful of light scratches on the nose and one on the rear wing, this one looks nearly new and has probably never done the track duty it was designed for.
Market commentary
The E36 is probably the most unloved generation of the M3, but with E30 prices having already gone crazy, the E36 is the next best thing. The Lightweight model is a totally different animal. With so few examples built, it was an instant collectible for the BMW faithful and this result, while big, was not all that surprising.
