Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Al Unser, Jr.s 1989 Indy 500 2nd place car. Chevy Ilmor engine. Comes with articles, media guides from the Speedway and Galles Racing, video, team pin and Al, Jr.s driving suit. Cosmetically restored with apparently a fully functional but preserved engine (with De pickle before starting tag) done by Galles team manager Owen Snyder. Good cosmetics and appears substantially ready to run although sold for display only.

Market commentary

Most mid engined Indy cars come with little history and wall decor presentation. This one is complete and captures an exciting moment in Indy history, before the IRL CART split and when the drivers were recognized heroes. It brought all the money and then some for a car that didnt get milk spilled on it, a market benchmark.
