Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Rene Arnouxs 1982 team car, pole sitter at Imola and Monaco. Later Eddie Cheevers test car. Retubbed by Renault before sale to Jean Sage in 1987; engine rebuilt in 1996 by Dominique Bachard. In race ready condition although unused recently. Sharp and orderly. Abba Kogan Collection.

Market commentary

Offered by Christies at Le Mans in 2006 and at Retromobile earlier this year where it was a no sale at $183,920. The estimates went from $333K in 2006 to $223K in early 2007 to the present $186K which is a pretty dramatic reassessment of values but also a reflection of a realistic consignor testing the market. Turbo 1.5 liter F1 cars are not the most driver friendly in the world (and far from the most mechanic friendly.) The seller should feel no regret at this price. It just recognizes the realities.
