Equipment
490hp, 3.3 litre Cosworth DFV, Hewland 5 speed. Raced by Guy Edwards (which explains the plentiful sponsorship logos) and Emilio de Villota in 1981 as Grid Racing, the Lola factory team. Class winner at Nnrburgring 1,000 km, 3rd at Le Mans, winner at Enna 6 hours and BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch. Dramatic ground effects design with skirted rear wheels and teardrop greenhouse. Represented here as in original, as raced condition, it appears as if an earlier restoration to like new with just a little age. Very cool. John OQuinn Collection. No Reserve.
Market commentary
Sold by RM in Monterey in 2003 for $121,000 and still a very attractive, usable and competitive car in an increasingly active category of historic racing. It will need comprehensive fettling to be turned loose but none of the bits are hard to find or replace and is a thrilling ride for those with the spirit, reactions and pocketbook to experience it.
