Equipment
Design study by Pininfarina for a 4 door Ferrari based on a front mounted 5 liter Weber carbureted Boxer drivetrain. Displayed at the 1980 Turin show then part of the Jacques Swaters collection along with brochures, design sketches and related correspondence. Recently reworked with a 512 engine and 400GT gearbox, strengthened chassis, new suspension and brakes in a project managed by Mauro Forghieri. Now fully functional and drivable.
Market commentary
Comparisons with the new Ferrari FF two door four seater do not make the FF look good even though the Pinin looks like the stretched 400 with a lengthened nose to make room for the front mounted flat twelve that it is. The consignor paid $274,404 (GBP 140,100) for it at RMs Maranello sale in 2008, then spent a fortune to make it run and drive like a real car.
