Equipment
Nicked, chipped and used but also a real race car, ready to go. Bruno Giacomellis 5th at Argentina, 13th at Brazil and some other unimportant finishes. Whats important is the 12 cylinder Alfa V12. It leaks. It takes a team of mechanics swapping spark plugs to get it going. But when it goes it is magic.
Market commentary
A competitive Cosworth costs this much but will never make this music. A Ferrari or Matra that does will never be attainable at a price like this. The exhilaration and frustration from owning an Alfa like this screaming around for a few laps once it finally gets going, then coasting into the pits when it quits is the high and low of Alfa ownership. The reported high bid is a realistic compromise. Just firing it into life is a weeks worth of endorphins; a lap is worth a lifetime.
