Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Repainted recently with a small amount of overspray on the grille's rubber gasket, but otherwise the paint is very good. Good panel gaps. The trim is fair and has some minor scratching, and the headlight trim lenses are aged. The rubber bumpers were detailed recently and the underbody is unrestored but well maintained. The wheels have some light scratches to the center caps. The interior is excellent. The upholstery appears recent with some minor wrinkling. Cosmetically freshened and lightly aged underneath, but a solid for the most part and very desirable 6.9.
Market commentary
250hp isn't much to propel a 4,400 pound luxury sedan down the road but in smog-regulation strangled 1977 the 450 SEL 6.9 was the king of the road among 4-door sedans with a top speed of 140 mph. It still has an exceptional reputation, which may account for the generous price it brought here.
