Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

An over the top Thing. Custom interior, fixed back bucket seats, CD stereo with 2200 watt amps, roll cage, 2,297cc engine, dual 2 bbl 44 IDF Weber carbs, 4.12 axle. Completely redone at a reported (and believable) cost of $40,000 plus The Thing. Impeccable paint and interior. Multiple VW show awards. Rather astounding, actually, and appealing in a weird, twisted way. Thursday.

Market commentary

Except for the lack of air conditioning this beats hell out of most SUVs for hauling a kids soccer team line, and will get more respect than a Hummer from the 12 year olds. Nearly $40K seems a mite expensive for impressing pre teens, but theres an ass for every seat.
