Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Represented as a one-owner car with matching numbers and service records. Claimed to have been meticulously maintained at a Porsche dealership, although you'd never guess by looking at the car. Rough paint with chips, fisheyes and microblisters pretty much all over the hood and nose. Big foot-long scratch on the left rear fender. Wheels are very tired looking. Door gaps are uneven. Pitted rear bumper. Dirty, tired original engine bay. Road wear but rust free underneath. Really sound original interior considering what the outside looks like. The next owner will have quite the dilemma: to restore or not to restore. It's a sound candidate for a full redo, but as long as it's OK mechanically there's no reason you couldn't also have fun with it as-is.
Market commentary
Even in the somewhat softer current market for 911s, this is rough project car money offered for a '72 S that's much better than that. The consignor is well within reason to expect low six-figures.
