Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

4.7 liter Bora drivetrain. Designed by Giugiaro, displayed at Turin in 1971, then Geneva in 72 in operating form. Later at Paris, London and Barcelona. Sold in Spain, cosmetically restored in the late 90s and shown at Bagatelle, Pebble Beach and others. Restoration refreshed by Paul Grist in 2003. Runs and drives, somewhat original and in good, presentable condition. An important and well known design concept.

Market commentary

Sold by Christies here in 2002 for +721,750 ($628,374) which vividly shows the effect of the dollars 3 year swoon. The price here is +781,250. Thats an increase of +60,500 in Paris, but $385,775 in New York, the effect of markets far larger and more powerful than collector cars. There is, however, a remarkable reawakening of interest in landmark postwar concept and show cars and the EU value of Boomerang has staying power.
