Equipment
340/290hp, 5-speed swap, Radial T/A tires, rear spoiler, hood pins, side exhaust, Hurst pistol grip shifter, console, modern Infiniti radio, dash clock.
Condition
Represented as matching numbers. Matte black hood really could have been done better. It has uneven finish that especially shows in the light. Red portions of the paint are very good, as is the chrome. No telling where the 5-speed came from, but from the inside everything looks correct with the pistol grip shifter. Tidy, restored underbody. Very good, like new restored interior. A mostly sharp, genuine AAR Cuda that missed on a few details.
Market commentary
Bid to $75,000 at Indy two months ago, this was driver money for a good if somewhat flawed restored AAR car. Whether the discount was for the replacement 5-speed or due to Mopar fans holding out for larger-engined cars, the buyer made out very well here. The AAR 'Cuda may not have the breathtaking power of a Hemi but it is lighter and better balanced. Contemporary testing indicates the 290hp is ridiculously low. This is a driver's car.
