Equipment
1970 factory Trans Am race car driven by Dan Gurney and the last pro race car he drove before retiring. Raced in France after the Trans Am but described on the block as never wrecked and loaded with trick Trans Am parts (some aluminum parts metal sprayed to fool the tech inspectors magnets), all original body panels and engine. Meticulously restored to fresh race ready condition. Extensive documentation. Saturday primetime number.
Market commentary
One of the more confusing events of the weekend. Struggled on the block, despite Craig Jackson taking the mike at least twice and extolling its virtues, history and originality, and bought in by the consignor at this price. Later bought by B J (or CJ) for $425,000. It happens even at the very best auctions that sometimes the right bidders just arent there at the right time. This is a quality car that needs nothing and has a great history. It would be a great value at the reported price and is well worth $425,000.
